FOR TODAY … 15 September, 2010

Outside My Window… cloudless skies, green everything else, a lawn crew.

I am thinking… that insomnia stinks.  *yawn*

I am thankful for… a capable hubby who replaced much of our leaky roof last week!  Oh, and allergy meds. *sneeze*

From the kitchen… we’ll be grilling something recently acquired at the Country Smokehouse in Almont, Michigan.

I am wearing… beige linen top, brown tank underneath, brown slacks and sandals… bronzy and greenish jewelry.

I am creating… MUST buckle down and finish that Disappearing Nine Patch quilt!  Too much home improvement last week, too little time.  😦

I am going… to master my new iPad if it kills me.

I am reading… just finished Maeve Binchy’s Circle of Friends. This was recommended to me by a fellow fan of Rosamunde Pilcher’s, and I’ve often heard the two authors compared favorably.  However, I really think Pilcher is the master at setting a scene and creating an atmosphere; I just didn’t feel as drawn in by Binchy, though the story and people were somewhat absorbing.

I am hoping… that I start sleeping better, so I can get more done in a day.  Summer’s sliding away!

I am hearing… nothing but my own keystrokes.  This office is too quiet.

Around the house… need to call Lowe’s and see if our new bathroom cabinet is finally in.

One of my favorite things… new toys to become acquainted with, electronic or otherwise.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… a restful, crafty day Friday, picnic with my congregation on Saturday (weather forecast iffy.)

My Picture Thought … thanks to Jane Brocket’s blog (Yarnstorm-Gentle Art of Domesticity) I became interested in having dahlias in my yard.  I’d not grown them before; however, the vibrant colors and simple but high-impact ways she arranged the cut flowers proved irresistible.  I’ll try more varieties next year; this one is “Karma”.  Toward the end of the bloom’s life, the outer petals begin to turn golden…
