Final installment. As I made my way through the exhibit, I was struck and dismayed at the absence of pieced quilts. The emphasis seemed by far to be on applique, threadpainting, landscape/portrait.. much closer to the art quilt genre. While I have great respect for the talent and creativity of work like this, is not my personal favorite (old-fashioned girl.) Thankfully towards the end, I located some beauties that made my heart skip a beat. THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about LOL! (Can click on the images for a better image.)
I tried to be disciplined as I wandered along the 14 HUGE aisles of vendor booths, but a few items were must-haves. I specifically looked for someone selling TJ Lane thimbles, so I could add to my collection of her gorgeous, handcrafted silverwork. Most things I buy on her website, but thimbles must be fitted in person, in my experience. Pansies are a favorite flower. So:
Thank you for following me through Cincinnati. I had a fabulous time… so fabulous, I already booked my room for next year. 😀
ooooohhh! another thimble! SO PRETTY!
I LOVE that first quilt!
Thank you for all the pictures…it took lots of prodding! LOL!
That Frame Quilt… my favoritest, by far. Oh, it did not take lots of prodding either. PBBTTHH! ;-p
Thank you for your gracious compliments–I appreciate the encouragement!!–EuJane Taylor
Oh my goodness, how exciting you found my wee blog! Yes, your quilt was my favorite of this year’s festival. Lovely!
The hexagon/90 degree diamonds are hand pieced–it was a labor of love based on the quilts of The Netherlands and England. I accidently found you when I put my name into google just out of curiousity!!
