FOR TODAY … 4 August, 2011
Outside My Window… partly cloudy, humid, 80-something.
I am thinking… that if I recall correctly from girlhood reading, Anne Frank and her family and friends in hiding were arrested today 67 years ago. I think of it every year as reading her diary made such an impression on me as a kid. (Her last entry into her diary was on August 1.)
I am thankful for… a quiet day tomorrow, with nothing planned and no obligations. I am really, really thankful for this!
From the kitchen… hubby made fabulous chili rellenos last night, using our first peppers from the garden!
I am wearing… striped jersey cardigan, white embroidered tank top, light khakis.
I am creating… working on my orange and white quilt, and almost done with my first Farmers Wife block.
I am going… to kayak more this summer. We’ve had a great couple of outings since hubby fixed the roof racks we transport them on.
I am reading… WAS reading some back issues of Quilt magazine (the best quilt mag out there in my opinion.) But courtesy of my new membership to the Crafters Circle, I have five gorgeous new books to dive into this weekend! Just got this one, not from CC, also, and think I will start with it:
I am hoping… that my friend Michelle has a smooth move into her new house, and a wee bit of summer left in which to enjoy her new yard.
I am hearing… various conversations around the office, traffic outside. The usual.
Around the house… will clean the bathroom tomorrow. Ick.
One of my favorite things… a pile of shiny new books.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… quilting, reading, freezing some more beans from the garden, reading, kayaking
My Picture Thought … from our paddle last week in one of the lakes at the Holly State Recreation Area. Bet they’re in full bloom now:
Oooohhhh…Chile Rellenos! I sort of made those the other night. I pulled out the last of the New Mexican Hatch green chiles, sliced them open and placed a slice of mango, jack cheese, and leftover carnitas then put them under the broiler. Topped with mango, red onion, tomato and chili powder. 🙂
Pretty picture!
