I really love this!
“WALCOTT, Iowa—Semi driver Dave White happily sequestered himself in his rig at a truck stop on a rural stretch of Interstate 80, waiting to pick up his next haul: 45,000 pounds of Spam. He used to loathe the downtime in his job.
Then, he bought a sewing machine.” REST OF ARTICLE
My husband sews the most beautiful pillows and curtains you will ever find and has a great eye when it comes to making beaded earrings. He is 6’4, was an Army Specialist in Desert Storm, bald and wears an earring. I am absolutely in love with every one of these truckers because they prove that manly and crafty can work together in harmony :)!
So cool, Penny! My wild-game-hunting, Harley-riding, gun-collecting hubby is developing some strong opinions himself on various quilt designs. You should hear him critique when we watch sewing shows on the Create network LOL! He schooled in gemology and jewelry design, so has a keen aesthetic sense. Gotta love these guys!
(So sorry about the moderation! I don’t know why it did that to you!)
That is a GREAT article! Gotta love a guy with a sewing machine, crochet hook, and knitting needles!
The one guy who said that he wouldn’t do it, it was his mom’s thing to do? A little insecure in our masculinity, are we? Not that I would, you know, say that to his face. ;-P
